What's Up LA

What’s Up in January

2018 is here! It’s a new year and that means more chances to explore the city – whether you’ve been here for ages or are just getting settled from somewhere else. January is a great time to refresh, reset, and make the most of your city and its surroundings. Here’s some of the great stuff happening that I hope to check out this month:

Chagall: Fantasies for the Stage

Ending its LACMA run on Jan. 7, this exhibit offers a close encounter with 41 hand-painted Marc Chagall costumes as well as almost 100 sketches and studies from three ballets and one opera. Catch it while you can! Tickets and info here.

The Yoga Expo

Namaste your way into the new year, proper. The Yoga Expo takes place Jan. 6 at the Pasadena Convention Center. An all-day pass is $35 and gets you unlimited classes and workshops throughout the day. More info and tickets here.

Indulge: LA Chocolate Festival

This event also takes place on Jan. 6 and offers something on the other end of the health spectrum. The chocolate festival and pastry show will offer some of the city’s best chocolate and pastries but the event will also feature wines, champagnes, spirits and other foods at the Omni Hotel. More info here.

LA Art Show

The nation’s longest running art show featuring modern, contemporary, historic and traditional art will be held at DTLA’s Los Angeles Convention Center, from Jan. 11 to 14. The Art Show features top galleries and include lectures, tours, special exhibits and of course, plenty of after-parties. Step up your art game in the new year. Info and tickets here.

Winter DineLA

DineLA’s annual winter edition kicks off Jan. 12 and runs through Jan. 26, featuring hundreds of restaurants offering discounted lunch and dinners. It’s a perfect way to stick to your resolution of branching out and finally trying new spots. Check out the full list of participating establishments here.

Uncorked Wine Festival

The 3rd annual Uncorked Wine Festival takes place Jan. 27, transforming Union Station into your new favorite mega-winery. The event, taking place 5-9pm, will feature more than 50 wineries, food trucks and music. More info and tickets here.
